Today is Read Across America day – otherwise known as Dr. Seuss’s birthday! While we love Dr. Seuss (see our 5 Top Pottery Projects for Dr. Seuss Books!) We also love reading! If you have an older child who is enthralled with Harry Potter – we have a fun Read Across America project for you!
Harry Pottery Book Ends!
Out stacked Owl Banks can morph into your favorite Harry Pottery Owls and be a book end in no time! It’s super easy! You can just paint them, fill them with some coins and the weight of the coins makes them the perfect book- end!
Or if you want a different look you can just mount them on a block of wood. We just cut a 5×5 square, sprayed it with a little poly-urethane, added a few dots of E6000 glue to the bottom of the banks – and Ta! Da! – Book Ends! (please note if you are using the banks as an actual bank you will have to remove the wood blocks to retrieve your coins :))
If your favorite reader isn’t a Harry Potter fan you can create pottery book ends out of just about any of our banks! There are so many to choose from we’re sure there is one for every book worm out there!
Remember – it’s Read Across America Day! Take a few minutes out of your crazy day and curl up with a good book!
